Ambassador Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury presented his credentials to the United Nations Secretary-General as the Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations in New York on 13 January 2025.

Ambassador Chowdhury joined Bangladesh Foreign Service in 1998. Prior to his current post, he was the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal from November 2020 to December 2024. 

In his diplomatic career spanning more than two decades, he served in different capacities at various Bangladesh Missions abroad including in the High Commission of Bangladesh in New Delhi, Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations in New York, Consulate General of Bangladesh in New York and High Commission of Bangladesh in Islamabad. In the Headquarters, he served in United Nations, Economic Affairs, Administration, Protocol, External Publicity, South East Asia wings and Foreign Service Academy. 

He is married to Ms. Noor E Akhtar and they have two sons.
